MEDIATION

Divorce on your Terms

If you and your spouse don't know how to settle your divorce don't worry, Grand River Legal can help.  Our Firm is unique, we only do divorces under the collaborative law court rules and before anyone files traditional court papers.   Pre-filling Mediations provides an opportunity for spouses to put their issues on the table, and the mediator to present a matter-of-fact method of reaching an amicable settlement.  Grand River Legal will make sure you understand the law and both have a say in your separation.  Grand River Legal has the best mediators in the industry who can help you legally separate.  Pre-filling mediation avoids all litigation and is the least expensive and fastest way to get a divorce.

We can Help With Your Divorce

Collaborative Divorce is the newest way to legally separate in Michigan.  It avoids all litigation, but still allows you and your spouse to be represented by attorneys who work with you to reach a settlement.  Grand River Legal uses the Collaborative Divorce process to facilitate settlement agreements with all kinds of families - families who have lots of issues and some who only need help with a few issues.  All of this is done without court intervention or lengthy litigation.  We understand you want your divorce done, and Grand River Legal knows how to settle it.

PAPERS

We Take Care of All Court Filings

Effective April 2019, Michigan Supreme Court authorized court rules to provide an expedited process for legally separating which eliminates the need to litigate your divorce. If you and your spouse have a divorce settlement agreement or if we successfully help facilitate one, Grand River Legal can use the new collaborative court rules to file court papers with the proper court and have your agreement entered for a Judge's signature.  Let us handle all the paperwork any court stuff.  Grand River Legal understands the new collaborative court rules and can have your case finished in as little as 61 days.

THE PROCESS

Divorce in Days Not Years
Expedited Court Rules

Divorce doesn't have to take years.  In 2019, the Michigan Supreme Court authorized expedited court rules for entering a Judgment of Divorce.   Grand River Legal can now handle most divorce cases in 61 days and avoid the court process entirely.  If your relationship cannot be reconciled, and you know separation is inevitable, Grand River Legal can help settle your divorce before you have to sue each other. Our process is simple.  Try pre-filing mediation with one of our experienced divorce mediators who will work to find a middle ground that you and your spouse agree will work for your family. Or try our Collaborative Divorce process where you each have a collaborative attorney who will advocate for their client to try and settle on terms agreeable to both.  One advantage of these options is that they can be used independently or in combination.  For example, if your mediator is able to settle the issues of child support, parenting-time, and custody, but you just can't agree on who gets the house and how the retirement accounts will be split.  You can then go to Collaborative Process and have your collaborative attorneys advocate the remaining issues.

MORE AFFORDABLE

Pay to Get your Divorce Done, not to Continue the Fight

Grand River Legal understands you and your spouse want your divorce done.  You don't want to each pay attorneys $250/hour to fight at your expense.  That's why we don't charge hourly rates. We only charge up front flat fees for our services which can save you thousands of dollars. With a traditional divorce you pay attorneys who will likely tell you the total amount is "it depends..." resulting in the average divorce costing $20,000.00.    Grand River Legal is different, we only charge flat flees.  Our facilitations only cost $1,875.  By avoiding all the litigation, you avoid all those attorney fees.  Flat flees will not change or continue to grow.  You will always know exactly what you are paying for and never be surprised by a legal bill.
